                          The British Parliament passed the Amendment Act 1781 to correct the omission of the Regulating Act. An important act that came into force later was the Pitts India Act-1781


Features of Pitt India Act :


 1. This Act separated the commercial and political functions of the Company.

 2. The act allowed the board of directors to manage commercial enterprises. A six-member Board of Control was established in England to oversee civil, military and revenue matters.

 3. A secret committee consisting of three directors was entrusted with the responsibility of transferring  the mandate of the board to India.

4. The number of members of the Governor General's Committee was reduced from 4 to 3 K.

 5. Madras and Bombay Presidencies were placed under a committee of the Governor General of  Bengal as regards embassy, ​​war and revenue.





            By this Act, the East India Company's land in India was primarily called under British dominion. The British Government was given supreme control over the Company's affairs and its administration in India. Due to these two reasons Pitts India Act - 1784 is considered very important.
