INTRODUCTION OF TIPPU

                                                     Tippu Sultan was born on 1 December 1951 in Devanahalli

1) Immudi Krishnaraja Wodeyar was the last king of Mysore kingdom. Because Immudi Krishnaraja had no children, Hyder Ali, the great leader of the Mysore army, took over the Mysore province. Later on Hyder Ali's death his son Tippu Sultan came to power.

2) Fought four wars to prevent European expansion in South India.

    * Fought four Anglo-Mysore wars

3)Mysore province was integrated into British territory. Tippu Sultan learned military strategy from a French officer who was with Hyder Ali.

4) Tippu Sultan rose to prominence as a military leader in the Anglo-Maratha War of 1775-76.

5) At the age of 15 he did not participate in the first Mysore war with his father Hyder. As the leader of an army unit he defeated the Anglo army leader Brathwaite in 1742.

6) Tippu's grandfather was the leader of the rocket force in the Nawab of Arkata's army.
